Education
School-aged children living in the neighborhood of East Park in Orange County are served by the Orange County Public Schools district. Comprised of 172-regular attendance schools—18 high schools, 36 middle schools and 117 elementary schools—the district also includes adult learning centers, homebound programs, alternative education institutions, and charter schools. A number of parochial and private schools are available throughout Orange County. Area universities and colleges for students interested in obtaining a degree in higher education include University of Central Florida, Warner Southern College, Florida College of Physicians, Columbia College, Valencia Community College, Seminole Community College, and Florida Metropolitan University: Orlando College-South.
Economy and Job Market
Residents living in East Park are fortunate to live in an area where the economy is strong and the job market is plentiful. Many major corporations and companies are headquartered within Orange County and are mostly centered in the booming metropolitan city of Orlando. High-tech industries such as aerospace and aviation, electronic gaming, film, and television all contribute to Orlando’s economy. Health and tourism also play a major role in the area’s job market. A few of Orlando’s major employers include Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Systems, Siemens, Veritas/Seagate, and Mitsubishi Power Systems, among many others.
Also known as a quickly-growing medical destination, the city of Orlando has invested $2 billion into life science projects such as the Florida Hospital and Orlando Health—two of the top-ranked hospitals in the country—the Burnham Institute for Medical Research, University of Central Florida’s medical school, and Florida Hospital’s Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement, and their Global Robotics Institute.
Orlando is also known as a popular theme park destination with Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World providing plenty of employment opportunities. Working hand-in-hand with the tourism industry is the convention industry; the Orange County Convention Center is located in Orlando and is known as the second largest convention center in the country by square footage. The convention industry greatly contributes to the economy as it competes with Las Vegas and Chicago in terms of hosting the most convention attendees.

East Park features eight unique parks, picnic areas, pavilions, nature trails, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts. All of this is designed to create and encourage a tight-knit environment throughout the neighborhood. As a waterfront community, residents of East Park can head out to the local park and enjoy the day by the waterside while picnicking, reading, or enjoying the view of the Floridian sunset. Area golf courses for duffers and advanced players include the Lake Nona Golf Course, North Shore Golf Club, Eagle Creek Golf Club, and more within the Orlando area.
